Why We Built This Site
Minnesota opens up a fair amount of court and law-enforcement data to the public. The hard part is not access. The hard part is knowing which desk holds the piece you need. In Cottonwood County that means three separate stops. The District Court in the Fifth Judicial District issues warrants, sets bail, and keeps the file. The sheriff serves the process and publishes the county Warrant List. Court Administration runs the counter and the records requests.
It gets messier from there. No city in this county runs its own criminal court, so a ticket written in Windom or Mountain Lake ends up in the same district court file as everything else. The county list is a static table rather than a search form, and it carries only four columns. People check one source, see nothing, and assume they are clear. That assumption is the problem this site tries to head off.
So the pages here collect the office names, the search routes, the record fields, and the request steps in one place. Readers get the shape of the system before they start calling around.
What You Will Find Here
The site is organized by the type of question a reader arrives with:
- Checking a name: how to run a warrant lookup through the sheriff's list and the state case search
- Open warrants: what an outstanding warrant means and how the county list is put together
- Missed dates: how a bench warrant starts and which court holds it
- Charges: how an arrest warrant is applied for, issued, and served
- City police: how municipal warrant questions route to the district court
- Resolving: the paths to recall, bond, or a planned appearance, and who to ask first
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site. It has no tie to any Minnesota court, sheriff's office, or state agency. The limits are worth stating plainly:
- We cannot run an official check or confirm that a warrant exists for anyone
- We cannot recall, quash, serve, or clear a warrant on any system
- We cannot accept a payment or post bond toward a warrant
- We cannot arrange a court date, a surrender, or a walk-through
- We cannot give legal advice or say how a warrant applies to your situation
- We cannot promise that a phone number, fee, or listing here is current today
Only the court that issued the warrant or the sheriff's office that holds it can confirm whether it exists, whether it has been served, or whether it has been recalled. We can point you to the right desk. The answer has to come from them.
Search Partners
Some pages here carry search boxes run by outside companies. Those providers set their own prices and run their own systems on their own terms. If a tool leads to a paid signup, this site may earn a referral fee, and that revenue is what keeps the pages free to read.
None of that makes a partner result official. Partner data can lag, can miss a record, or can match the wrong person. Treat anything a partner tool returns as a lead to confirm at the courthouse or the sheriff's office, never as proof of status.
